Can I haz, plz?

Today is a monumental day. A day ripe with importance and deep meaning. It is a day during which you should stop and ask yourself.... oh, wait, nevermind. It's just my birthday.

So on this day I am asking for a gift that only you all can give me: recommendations.

On my birthday tell me please, what are the top 3-5 books that you think I should read during the next year of my life?

4. Kushiel's Dart, Jacqueline Carey if you haven't read it; if you have, then you're probably waiting for Kushiel's Mercy.

Happy Birthday!

It's a bit early in the morning for me to come up with three recs, but for the first one I would definitely say The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons, and then any of Elizabeth Hoyts books.

Happy Birthday!!! Did I ever tell you the story of when I worked in a grocery store and they needed someone to write on a cake? Well I had never done it before so I was a bit nervous. It showed after when I looked down at the cake to see I'd written:
Happy Birtday!
They laughed and took the cake anyways - thank goodness as I wasn't really sure what to do to fix it. And I never wrote on another cake either - odd that!

So - on to your question - top 3 to 5 books. Well the first one is obvious if you haven't read it. The crowd behind me can probably yell it out. Suffice to say it was my top book pick and my top hero pick. Linda Howard wrote some fab books - I'd say Mr. Perfect is just about perfect.
Then maybe for something a bit older - but equally wonderful, In the Midnight Rain by Ruth Wind.

Happy Birthday Shannon! :)

Hmm book recs you say? I second the Kushiel's Dart rec! Also, if you've never read them, Rachel Caine's Weather Warden books (starting with "Ill Wind") are awesome, and well worth a read. OH and I believe you haven't read Twilight, right??? You need to get on board :)

Yay! Such a great b-day gift. Recs, recs, and more recs. I feel so woefully behind on my reading. I think all but one of these is new to me.

Thank god I have summers off. I can catch up on all those books I have missed out on. :)

Happy Belated Birthday sweetie!

Hmmm, my brain isn't working all that well right now but off the top of my head, if you haven't read any KMM books then you should definitely read those, JQ is great for historicals and ummm, yeah I'm outta ideas...haha.

Oooh, Sarai, Sugar Daddy was really good! AFAIK it's Kleypas's first contemporary and it was just as good as her historicals.

Rowena- I think my brain is still fuzzy. KMM? I am completely drawing a blank. Who is that?

Shannon!

I hope you had a great B-day.

I'm going to go with Nicola on recommending Spymaster's Lady. It is a MUST MUST MUST read. It is 100% delightful. Also, Kushiel's Dart is excellent. Have you read that Lord of Scoundrels? Everybody seems to. I just smiled all the way through it. MelJean Brook is a great rec, too. Start anywhere.

Happy (belated) Birthday! ... although I do believe I greeted you a bit early on Lisabea's DIK day. ;)

KMM = Karen Marie Moning. I've got all her Highlander books on my wish list. I've read Dark Fever (her new Fae series), but am waiting for the sequel to come out in paperback.

My recommendations would be:
1. TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer
2. SUGAR DADDY by Lisa Kleypas
3. BLUE EYED DEVIL by Lisa Kleypas
4. The Black Dagger Brotherhood books by JR Ward. Yes, all of them!
5. The Guardians series by Meljean Brook. Yes, all of them!

Ohhh...recs, huh? That's always a ton of fun. :)

I like the Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swendson. Girl lit & stuff, but Owen? *sigh* Yummy!

The House of Night series by PC & Kristin Cast. Young Adult vampire series that it totally rockin'.

Pride & Prejudice. Finished it last night. What an awesome book. :)

The Dirk & Steele series by Marjorie M. Liu is awesome. Tiger Eye is the first. Phew! Hotness! :)

And The Goddess Summoning series by PC Cast. There's something about that woman's writing that just sings to me.

Enjoy! :)
